Memories

“Kuch batein hoti hai

Kuch yadein hoti hai.

Kuch man me bas jati hai.

kuch sunai deti hai to kuch aankho me jhalak jati hai.”

Memories, thoughts, feelings and emotions. Is that’s what, which stays with us. Is that the only thing you carry with you? You cannot carry your home, neither can you carry yourself with ‘that’ home with you. But where is it? —is it a space! physical or mental or emotional? does anyone have an answer to it? When I reiterate this question over and over again, and look at what I have; i have only memories intact that remind me of the ‘place’ and not just the space’. It lies within my mind, my thoughts, the air I breathe in and the sounds I hear. ‘Is home is what is created within me?’

Ek pal or char yadien.

My final project is about home and the world which is focusing on the essence of our home. Home as a place has certain memories of it ,attached to us in certain various manners. They are never noticed and are never thought upon untill and unless you miss them somewhere in your senses. Example like your morning routine.

Everyone in this world has a particular place to stay when they are not indulged in any productive activity or behind a certain goal to accomplish. There is a place which you miss when you are away from it, the place where your comfort lies. A place where you feel yourself without any efforts. Which is away from this globalized world or atleast has a boundary from it.

That place stays in your memories because you have spent a lot of your time there.

So the work i ll be doing ,will be the notion of our home in the context of our sensory organs.

I have collected audios and made an audio tour with certain voices that reminds me an essence of my home. With it i have added an audio of my writings to give the viewer an essence in his head. For visuals i am asking for some aesthetical pictures from people, of thier comfort zone by telling them my idea about home. Then portraying their image with my hands on paper.

My idea about showing all the sensory feelings comes from the book that we have read in this course 'home and the world'. In which in the begining only, one of the main characters of the book bimala talks about her vermillion mark on her head and the sari she use to wear and her hairs. The book starts with visual imagination of bimala of her mom. Her home which was her mother before her marriage, she thinks of her with a visual image of her in her own mind. So it talks a lot about, how we are attached to some things with our sensory organs.

Thoughts and Feelings

- Esha Basu

What is a thought?— it is an idea that results from thinking, its a process of creating. What is a feeling?— It is a way someone, or somethings reacts and responds to a thing. But, what if, you put these two together and create something that root from the same place?A thought which evokes a feeling, a feeling which evokes thought. What if?
What is that thought, which evokes feeling-- which is that feeling that creates thought?

Objects

Memories are those images, that retain inside your mind, long after the moment has passed by. Memories, help us distinguish from the past and present, yet they manage to transport an individual to the very moment, bringing back in a spoon full of nostalgia
and emotions. Some of these emotions, are hence evoked by a souvenior, an object.
Here, are some objects which bring back age old memories to us

Objects

What is it that reminds me of home? Does it have to be something that belongs to the space where I grew up?
